Unable to delete files from sansa clip

Also, sorry about posting this issue more than once. I no longer have the disk. A cleaning effort was done recently and I believe it got thrown out. I believe songs are on internal memory. I tried several times erasing files both on device and via USB to laptop. The files erase initially, then end up coming back. As again, files deleted temporarily, then came back. I also tried deleting in MSC mode while unconnected to laptop, so was deleting just via the device.

Same result - files deleted initially, then came back. USB Mode is how the Sansa communicates with the computer. One of them worked. The solution is in two parts. That is easier and better, and then you can update the firmware manually check the SanDisk forums or AnythingButiPod. You can reformat it in Linux using Gparted, but the Clip still won't work because the Clip wants the exact settings that Windows uses when it formats a blank disk.

However, reformatting the Clip in Gparted will serve the purpose of ensuring that it absolutely won't work nor be recognized by a Windows machine.

So go ahead and do that once if you like. Windows will give an error message saying the drive is unformatted, and offer to format it for you. I usually transfer files between my computer and the Clip using Windows Explorer.

This same thing happens if I try to remove files one by one using the Clip menu. Thinking it may be the firmware I installed the Firmware Update software. The software identifies that I have version 1. When I try to update manually with the firmware file extracting the. In other words,if I try to copy ma. Does anyone have any ideas that I can try before calling support? Right now, I have a Clip that works great with 50 songs that cannot be removed or added to. The only thing that it will erase is all of your mp3 files and everything that is in the device.

So try formatting your device under PC to see if this will fix the problem. I bought it probably a year ago and it worked fine for several months, and then I put it away for several months.

When I started reusing it, the battery was totally dead, but it charged up fine. I wonder if it might have something to do with WinXP service packs?
